The coating is applied electrostatically and then cured under heat which causes it to form a kind of “skin.” Usually powder is used to coat metals, but there are a number of potential applications. Powder coat is very durable and has become the industry standard for coating metal balusters.
The term “Satin Finish” simply refers to the sheen on the stainless steel balusters as they are a polished interior grade stainless. There is no finish on them, they’re simply run through a drum polisher to give them a nice final look which is very eye pleasing.
Note: Square shaft stainless steel balusters are more of a dull matte finish being they cannot be polished through the round drum sander machinery .
This simply means that some balusters ( round or square ) can have a collar added on to them. The loose adjustable collars allows you to set the placement of the collar to meet your needs, you simply tighten a small ( almost hidden ) set screw once in place.

It is the general code that 2 standard metal balusters are needed per open stair tread on a 9" framing run.
On a 10" framing run or a framing run larger than 9" you normally need 3 balusters per open tread.

There are a few types of metal balusters that do allow for 2 each per open stair tread on a framing run that is a bit over 9", ( I.E.; 2 each of the 3/4" shaft sized balusters will work on a run that is 9.5" or less. The 1-1/2" rectangle styled baluster will allow for 2 each on a open stair tread run up to 12" deep ).
